Job Student Opportunity RADar

Job Student Opportunity - Multimodal AI for Cancer Prediction at RADar Innovation Center of AZ Delta

Are you passionate about the intersection of Artificial Intelligence and Healthcare? The Research & Innovation department of RADar (the learning and development center within AZ Delta) is looking for a motivated job student to join our team.

Who we are

RADar focuses on data-driven healthcare. Our multidisciplinary team of data scientists, AI experts, and healthcare professionals works closely together to incorporate new technologies into daily hospital operations. Our mission is simple but ambitious: to use cutting-edge technology to prevent, detect, and treat diseases in a personalized way.

The Project: Multimodal AI for Colon Cancer

We are currently working on a high-impact project involving Colon Cancer patients. At the moment, physicians lack adequate tools to predict patient outcomes at the time of diagnosis (prior to surgery), as routine work-ups often miss crucial prognostic information. We aim to solve this by developing an advanced Deep Learning model to predict patient response and prognosis. This is a multimodal project using radiology imaging data, pathology imaging data and clinical patient data.

Who we are looking for

We are looking for a Biomedical Engineering Master's student with a strong interest in Data Science and AI with the following desired skills. Your main goal will be to follow up on the progress of the project and to have close contact with physicians discussing the progress.

  • Technical: Strong programming skills in Python and experience with machine learning and/or deep learning frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow, Scikit-learn).
  • Communication: You have excellent communication skills and can "bridge the gap" between engineering and medicine. You are able to explain complex technical concepts to team members with different backgrounds.
  • Collaboration: You enjoy working in a multidisciplinary team and are not afraid to ask questions to physicians or senior data scientists.
  • Mindset: You have an analytical and critical mindset and a proactive attitude.
  • Bonus: Familiarity with medical image analysis or multimodal data fusion.

What we offer

  • The chance to work on a real-world project with direct impact on patient care.
  • Mentorship from experienced AI data scientists and healthcare experts.
  • Access to high-quality medical datasets and computing resources.
